The perfectly preserved complex, which was restored in 2017, consists of two property units, comprising a large house on the 1st and 2nd floors of approx. 350 sqm and a 3-room flat on the 2nd floor of approx. 120 sqm, as well as numerous storage rooms and cellars. The property is surrounded by a large lawn of approx. 6000 sqm with trees and has a beautiful planted garden. Description of the house: On arrival at the entrance we are greeted by a beautiful landscaped courtyard, which includes a cellar/stable and several covered parking spaces. The outside staircase leads to the long balcony where the terrace with gazebo is located. Upon entering the house, you are greeted by a large hallway that leads to the large living room with fireplace and frescoed ceiling, a small living room with coffered ceiling, the kitchen, also with coffered ceiling, and the bathroom. The corridor leads to the planted inner garden. The staircase leads to the long corridor which gives access to the 4 bedrooms, one of which has a coffered ceiling, the 2 bathrooms, one of which has a Turkish bath and a vaulted ceiling, and the large study with a balcony with panoramic views. The house is adorned with numerous period details, such as the Lombard terracotta tiles present in most of the rooms. Description of the separate flat: You enter the flat through a separate entrance, which is located in the inner courtyard, and arrive in a large entrance hall with a window to the garden and a staircase leading to the upper floor. Here there are 2 bedrooms, a large living room with an open-plan kitchen and a beautiful main bathroom. Both the house and the flat overlook the beautiful, planted garden, which is equipped with an irrigation system. The architectural complex 'Il Castellazzo' in Pombia has a well-preserved original structure dating back to 1347, located in a dominant position in the centre of Pombia. From the south side you can see one of the features of the complex, namely the retaining wall with its characteristic barbicans of pebbles mixed with bricks. There is no certainty about the original destination of the complex, but there are three hypotheses: The first, related to the imposing character of the complex, tells of a noble palace, the residence of the 'Dominus'. The second hypothesis is that the complex was used as a farm in favour of the Adesl Borromeo family; a large stone chute can be seen in one of the cellars used for storage, through which the agricultural produce was brought to the cellars. A third hypothesis, again due to the dominant position, refers to a fortress overlooking the Rio Riale valley, in the toponymy 'vallis buschaliorum', built for the defence of the settlement. Near the property there are 2 golf courses (Agrate Conturbia and Bogogno), Malpensa airport is 20 minutes away and Lake Maggiore 20 minutes. A place full of charm and history, a unique property, a valuable asset for those who love the beauty and charm of exclusive residences.
